Percy Jackson Blue Birthday Recipes

Hey everyone! I thought in honor of Percy Jackson's birthday (August 18th) I thought I would give you the links to a couple of blue food recipes in honor of Percy!!

Blue Cookies:
Recipe
"I recoiled at the taste, because I was expecting apple juice. It wasn't that at all. It was chocolate-chip cookies. Liquid cookies. And not just any cookies—my mom's homemade blue chocolate-chip cookies, buttery and hot, with the chips still melting."

Blue Cupcakes:
Recipe
What better way to celebrate a birthday than cupcakes? Even better, they're blue! (of course ;)

Blue Waffles
Recipe
"My mom made blue waffles and blue eggs for breakfast. She’s funny that way, celebrating special occasions with blue food. I think it’s her way of saying anything is possible. Percy can pass seventh grade. Waffles can be blue. Little miracles like that. "

 Blue Soda:
If you want blue soda, like Percy and his blue cherry CokeI find it works well if you put 2-3 drops of blue food coloring (until desired color) into Sprite, Sierra Mist or 7Up. You can also buy Frostie blue cream soda at Walmart.

I hope you enjoy making these awesome, Percy Jackson inspired treats! And..... HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY PERCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I don't own any of the pictures I used in this post :)

Paper Towns Movie Review

Hello world!! It's Autumn. I got a couple of emails requesting a movie review post, so, here we go! Today I will be reviewing...........................The Paper Towns movie!!! (May contain spoilers)

I thought that the cast of Paper Towns did a great job! I've seen all these reviews saying, "This movie is awful," or "I wanted to leave the theater," but I really don't get what they're talking about. I thought the movie was very good, and was pretty accurate to the book. A lot of people were saying that Cara Delevingne didn't do a good job as Margo, but I think she did great especially since this was her first acting role. Nat Wolff was the perfect Quentin!!! A couple things were changed, like no Seaworld (I know, right?), Angela accompanied Q and his friends on the road trip, and the road trip happened earlier, because they had to get to prom in time to get ready, but the main difference in my opinion, was the end. In the book, I really liked how they tied it back to the beginning, and Robert Joyner. Talking about how his strings broke, and about how you only know someone when you get close enough to see their cracks. In the book, Margo also tells Q about how she wrote a story about the two of them and her magical talking dog, Myrna Mountweazel, and how their go on a quest to find out who murdered Robert Joyner, and she admit that she liked him. In the movie however, I feel like the end didn't wrap up well, like Q goes all this way to find Margo, and none of the clues were meant for him. But overall, I really enjoyed the movie, even though there were some differences from the book.

(Sorry if this review is really crappy, I'm not a professional movie critic :)

Summer Drink Ideas!

Hello world! It's Autumn again! I know its been almost three weeks since I've blogged. Sorry! :( I just came back from overnight camp. It was a ton of fun! I know I promised you some cool summer drink ideas. So, here there are! I hope you enjoy.
  1. Water. I know I'm going to sound like an annoying hover parent, but you really do need to drink alot of water during the summer, especially when your outside at the pool or at the beach. If water is too boring for you, you can always add lemon or orange slices to freshen it up. Another thing I like to do is get fresh watermelon, cantaloupe or honeydew melon and ball them, and put them in the freezer. Then you can use them as flavorful ice cubes in your water.
  2. Lemonade. Another simple summer drink, but you can change it up by adding strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or even watermelon! Just be careful, the fruit can get really mushy and slimy if you leave it in there for too long, so I'd suggest making the lemonade, and then put the fruit in last, right before you serve. Another fun variation is to put the lemonade in the freezer for a fun frozen treat.
  3. Sparkling Juice. Another fun drink is to mix juice(s) (Orange, Pineapple, Cranberry) with ginger ale to create a fruity and bubbly drink.
  4. Floats. Theres always the American favorite, floats. You can do the traditional root beer float, or mix it up with Coke or even Dr. Pepper with vanilla or plain ice cream on top.
  5. Smoothies. Everyone loves a good smoothie in the summer. Yogurt, bananas and ice cubes with a fruit of your choice. Or, instead of using ice cubes, you can buy bags of frozen fruit at the grocery store, which still gives the frozen consistency. Blend in the blender (food processor works okay as well) until you get the consistency you want. If needed, you can add some water or juice to thin it out.
  6. Butterbeer. If you're a big Harry Potter fan (like myself) you might like to try this non-alcoholic Hogsmeade inspired drink. Mix vanilla ice cream, cream soda and butterscotch syrup in a blender until you get the taste you want. Top with whipped cream. (optional)

SUMMER!!!!!!!!!

Whew! Summer's just now here and I'm already SO HOT!!! The temps here are soaring into the mid 90s by 10 am! I can't believe how hot I am, even with the air conditioners running on high! I'm tempted to just put an ice pack down my back, but I'm thinking that probably wouldn't go over well, so I'm settling for an iced peach tea. Ahh. Where was I? Oh, right, IT'S FINALLY SUMMMER!! Get ready to head to the pool, or grab a cold smoothie. Speaking of smoothies, I'll hopefully be posting some smoothie and other cold drink ideas soon! Because of the heat, I just feel like laying around on youtube. UGHH! So hot. I need more iced tea. Or maybe some lemonade. No, I'll make a smoothie. Yeah, a smoothie sounds great. See Ya!

Some Advice

Hey my fabulous peeps out there!
Do you ever get those days when you just feel down? There doesn't have to be a reason, but you just feel like you constantly want to burst into tears? Here are some tips I found help me feel better.

1. Cry it out I know that might sound a little crazy, but I find I feel happier after I just let it all out. Sit in your room, and just cry, scream, even. Just get it all out. If this isn't something you would ever think about doing, look at #2
2. Vent to a Friend or Family Member If the first option is a little too extreme for you, I also find it helpful to tell a friend, family member or just someone you trust about how you feel, or about your troubles, this way, you can still let it all out.
3. Read a Book Especially if your a book lover like me, it's easy to get lost in the story your reading, and forget about what's bothering you.
4. Lay Down and Figure it out If it's a problem that's bothering you, spend some time figuring out what you're going to do next. Does that bully keep picking on you? Stand up for yourself. Boyfriend/Girlfriend cheating on you? Confront them about it.
5. Listen to Music  Similar to tactic #3, it's all about forgetting your troubles and tuning it out by jamming to your favorite bands and artists.

Whew! Now that you've read all that, I just have one more thing to say. Whatever is bothering you, please, please, please, please don't ever hurt yourself. It won't be worth it! Please keep those options in mind and remember, we care about you. It's not worth ending your life. If you ever have sad or depressed thought and are really feeling down, send me and email at: shine.so.bright.42@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading all that! :)
