Hello world! It's Autumn again! I know its been almost three weeks since I've blogged. Sorry! :( I just came back from overnight camp. It was a ton of fun! I know I promised you some cool summer drink ideas. So, here there are! I hope you enjoy.
- Water. I know I'm going to sound like an annoying hover
parent, but you really do need to drink alot of water during the
summer, especially when your outside at the pool or at the beach. If
water is too boring for you, you can always add lemon or orange
slices to freshen it up. Another thing I like to do is get fresh
watermelon, cantaloupe or honeydew melon and ball them, and put them
in the freezer. Then you can use them as flavorful ice cubes in your
water.
- Lemonade. Another simple summer drink, but you can change it
up by adding strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or even
watermelon! Just be careful, the fruit can get really mushy and
slimy if you leave it in there for too long, so I'd suggest making
the lemonade, and then put the fruit in last, right before you
serve. Another fun variation is to put the lemonade in the freezer
for a fun frozen treat.
- Sparkling Juice. Another fun drink is to mix juice(s)
(Orange, Pineapple, Cranberry) with ginger ale to create a fruity
and bubbly drink.
- Floats. Theres always the American favorite, floats. You can
do the traditional root beer float, or mix it up with Coke or even
Dr. Pepper with vanilla or plain ice cream on top.
- Smoothies. Everyone loves a good smoothie in the summer.
Yogurt, bananas and ice cubes with a fruit of your choice. Or,
instead of using ice cubes, you can buy bags of frozen fruit at the
grocery store, which still gives the frozen consistency. Blend in
the blender (food processor works okay as well) until you get the
consistency you want. If needed, you can add some water or juice to
thin it out.
- Butterbeer. If you're a big Harry Potter fan (like myself)
you might like to try this non-alcoholic Hogsmeade inspired drink.
Mix vanilla ice cream, cream soda and butterscotch syrup in a
blender until you get the taste you want. Top with whipped cream. (optional)
